-20°CRecognizes a protein of 21kD-25kD, identified as retinol binding protein (RBP). Its epitope localizes between aa 74-182 of human RBP. This MAb recognizes reduced and carboxy-methylated RBP (RCM-RBP) as well as the circulatory RBP but not the native RBP, thereby suggesting that its epitope becomes accessible either on unfolding or upon binding of RBP to transthyretin (prealbumin). RBP is responsible for distributing retinol from the retinoid stores in the liver to the various target tissues. Once secreted into the blood with bound retinol, the vitamin carrier circulates complexed with transthyretin prior to vitamin delivery at the plasma membrane through a receptor-mediated mechanism.||Applications: |Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, FLISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.||Recommended Dilutions:|Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. ||Positive Control:|Liver or placenta||Storage and Stability:|Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. ||Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
