IL-4 BioAssay™ ELISA Kit (Rat)

Interleukin 4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic cytokine produced by activated T cells, mast cells, and basophils. It was initially identified as a B cell differentiation factor (BCDF), as well as a B cell stimulatory factor (BSF1). IL-4 has since been shown to have multiple biological effects on hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells, including B and T cells, monocytes, macrophages, mast cells, myeloid and erythroid progenitors, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells. An anti-r IL-4 monoclonal coating antibody is adsorbed onto microwells. IL-4 present in the sample or standard and Biotinylated anti-IL-4 antibody binds to antibodies adsorbed to the microwells. Following incubation unbound sample or standard and Biotinylated anti-IL-4 antibody are removed during a wash step. A Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to Biotinylated anti-IL-4 antibody. Following incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is removed during a wash step. A colored product is formed in proportion to the amount of IL-4 present in the sample. The reaction is terminated by addition of acid and absorbance is measured at 450nm. Store other components at 4°C. Stable for at least 6 months For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
