Two-chain polypeptide hormone produced by the β-cells of pancreatic islets. Its molecular weight is ~5800D. The α and β chains are joined by two interchain disulfide bonds. The α chain contains an intrachain disulfide bond. Insulin regulates the cellular uptake, utilization, and storage of glucose, amino acids, and fatty acids and inhibits the breakdown of glycogen, protein, and fat.||Source:|Bovine Pancreas||CAS No:|11070-73-8||Molecular Weight:|5733.49||Molecular Formula:|C254H377N65O75S6||Purity:|≥97%||Appearance:|White to off-white solid||Solubility:|Water (10mg/ml) (ultrasonic and warming, adjust pH to 3 with HCl and heat to 60ºC).||Applications:|Suitable for use in cell culture applications at 0.5ml/liter of medium.||Amino Acid Sequence:|Phe-Val-Asn-Gln-His-Leu-Cys-Gly-Ser-His-Leu-Val-Glu-Ala-Leu-Tyr-Leu-Val-Cys-Gly-Gl u-Arg-Gly-Phe-Phe-Tyr-Thr-Pro-Lys-Ala.
