Sandwich ELISA quantitative detection kit for Rat CNTF in cell culture supernates, serum and plasma (heparin, EDTA, citrate.||Ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) is a potent polypeptide hormone whose actions appear to be restricted to the nervous system where it promotes survival, neurotransmitter synthesis and neurite outgrowth in certain neuronal populations. The hCNTF gene is located on chromosome 11, as determined using human-hamster somatic cell hybrids. The CNTF protein is highly conserved in evolution. The amino acid (aa) sequences of rat and rabbit CNTF translated from cDNAs display approx. 85% homology with the deduced aa sequence encoding hCNTF. CNTF induces weight loss and improves glucose tolerance in humans and rodents. CNTF is thought to act centrally by inducing hypothalamic neurogenesis to modulate food intake and peripherally by altering hepatic gene expression, in a manner similar to that of leptin.||Assay Range:|31.2pg/ml-2000pg/ml||Sensitivity:|< 10 pg/ml||Crossreactivity:|There is no detectable cross-reactivity with other relevant proteins.||Uniprot ID:|P20294||Entrez Gene ID:|25707||Kit Components:|96-well plate pre-coated with anti-CNTF, Rat|Lyophilized recombinant CNTF, Rat standard, 10ng/tube, 2Ea|USB Cat No Kit Component|143696 Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex (ABC), 130ul (1:100 dilution)|143697 Sample diluent buffer, 30ml|143698 Antibody diluent buffer, 12ml|143699 ABC diluent buffer, 12ml|143700 TMB color developing agent, 10ml|143701 TMB stop solution, 10ml||Storage and Handling:|Store at 4°C for 6 months, at -20°C for 12 months.
